The UCSF Staff Assembly offers scholarships twice a year.
**For career, policy-covered, non-represented, non-union staff**
Eligibility
This scholarship is open to UCSF Staff Assembly members — career staff not covered by a collective bargaining agreement or Memorandum of Understanding, and governed by the Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM).
To be eligible, you must:
✔ Hold a career appointment at 50% FTE or greater
✔ Have completed your probationary period
✔ Be at Career Tracks Level Code 2 or above
→ Confirm your level at ucsf.edu/careertracks using your job title or code
Limits: One application per cycle. One award per twelve-month period.
We give preference to activities that advance the UCSF mission or strengthen a collaborative, inclusive workplace — though we encourage all eligible members to apply.
Scholarship funds can be applied toward professional development and continuing education (PDCE) activities, including:
• Degree programs
• Professional courses and certifications
• Conferences and symposia
• Webinars and workshops
• Other qualifying PDCE activities
⚠ Before you apply: Please verify that your intended activity is not already available free of charge through the UC Learning Center (learning.ucsf.edu). This scholarship is designed to fund opportunities that aren't otherwise accessible through existing UC resources.
Deadlines
📅 Deadline: April 10, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time
📅 Eligible activity start dates: January 1 – July 30, 2026
Make sure your PDCE activity falls within this window before submitting.
Re-imbursement
Scholarships are paid as reimbursements after your activity is completed — not in advance. Here's what to expect after you receive an award:
1. Complete your approved PDCE activity
2. Submit your receipt and proof of completion to Staff Assembly
within 45 days of your award date
3. Reimbursement goes directly to you — not to your department
or any third party
A few important details to keep in mind:
• Submissions after 45 days are subject to payroll taxes per UC policy
• Missing the 45-day window forfeits the award entirely
• Awards do not roll over to the next cycle
Reimbursements are processed through the Staff Assembly Treasurer in coordination with HR Business Services, consistent with UC financial policy.
